Be-ness

God created us to be human beings not human doings.  There’s nothing wrong with doing things to for God but I truly believe God wants us to just be and rest in our be-ness* and to know that we are loved beyond measure and nothing can remove us from his love.

As it has been said, there are no servants in God’s family...only sons and daughters.

What does that mean?

I think it means we need to...

be thankful

be positive

be determined

be strong

be the church

be all you can be

but most of all, be His!

If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or we die, we belong to the Lord. Romans 14:8

The Shepherd who loves his sheep

And when he has found it (the sheep), he lays it on his [own] shoulders, rejoicing.  Luke 15:5

Do you ever feel like that you have made too many mistakes or are too much of a sinner for Jesus to even look at you?  I have a suspicion that we all feel like that from time to time.

One of the stories Jesus told to demonstrate God’s love for the world, was the story of a sheep that got lost and a shepherd who loved him.  When the shepherd realised the sheep was gone, he dropped everything to search for it.  Then, when he found the sheep, he picked it up carried it home.  The little sheep didn’t have to beat his chest or beg for forgiveness...he just had to rest on the shoulders of the shepherd.  And not only that, the shepherd was so happy when he returned home with his found sheep, he had a party.

Next time you feel lost, remember Jesus our loving Shepherd is not only carrying you but he is also celebrating you.

Resting in Jesus

“Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28

This would have to be one of my favourite verses.

I think all of us get tired from time to time.  Like everyone, I get physically, mentally and emotionally tired.   And it’s in those times; I try to remember Jesus’ promise to me, that if I go to him I will get rest.

What does rest mean? We might physically lie down but our minds can continue to churn with all the stresses and worries that life brings. This churning of problems over and over again is anything but restful!

To me, rest means to focus on Jesus, to worship him and to remember my daddy God’s greatest passion was for me to know him. It is only when I do these things that I feel Jesus’ arms around me as he lifts me and carries me.

While your family or friends may break their promises, Jesus will never break a promise, and when he promises to give me rest, I believe him.

What do you think?
